A few days ago, I received a big enveloppe full of lovely presents : an amazing pocket, a wonderful pouch, linens, buttons, scissors, threads and a magazine and also a beautiful card. Inside the card was a stitched block made with civil war fabrics.
I will treasure all these presents and wanted to make something useful with this block so I can have it on my desk.
After a long walk this afternoon, the idea came to me immediately!
And as I needed a break from stitching -I had stitched all day long yesterday and this morning- I immediately started working on a new pincushion!
I like it a lot and I am now ready to stitch again tonight!
But you may wonder what I am stitching!!!
A delicate pouch and it's almost finished. I hope to be able to show it to you next weekend... But here's a photo of my WIP...
And to finish this post, I want to tell my Japanese friends and readers that my prayers are still with you on this sad anniversary day.
Until later,

Until later,
Love your pincushion and it's a perfect way to enjoy the quilt block.
ReplyDeleteYour pincushion is lovely David, that is something I need to earn to make. What a wonderful package of kind gifts you received! My thoughts and prayers are also centred on the sadness of the Japanese earthquake.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty pincushion, and you're using some really lovely fabrics for the pouch - looking forward to seeing more of it.
ReplyDeleteLove your pincushion!
ReplyDeleteWow!! How creative you are!! You don't know how my eyes got wide opened now!! I'll have to copy that idea to make my own ;) And your stitching is always gorgeous. Can't wait to see more of the progress soon!
Isabelle
Oh yes I like it a lot too, the fabrics are lovely. I have found that when you do a lot of patchwork you can make things quite fast, even by hand!
ReplyDeleteYour Wip looks good so far!
Very nice pincushion, I like the colours and the shape too.
ReplyDeleteGroetjes
Annemieke
What a wonderful pincushion! I found your blog some minutes ago via Merumo's blog, and I can see that you make a lot of wonderful things.
ReplyDeleteOh the pincushion is perfect! Love it. And I can't wait to see your completed pouch - it looks gorgeous!
Merci Clob,
Adorable pin cushion David!
That is such a neat pincushion! I just followed a couple of links from other quilters who had made similar ones and linked back to yours. Is there a pattern for what you did? (The pincushion, not the sawtooth block)
ReplyDeleteBonjour,
ReplyDeleteJ'aime beaucoup votre coussin a épingle, j'aimerais cela si vous désirez avoir le patron. Une amie du Canada
This is a great way of giving good use to spare blocks!! Am I allowed to follow into your needlesteps?? Have a great weekend!
