... but here I am! As you can guess life has been busy... very busy. So not much was quilted or done.
But I do have some (little) progress to share with you.
Block 7 is finally finished and though the weather is overcast today again, I have decided not to postpone taking photos.
The quilt with a bouquet of roses from my mum's garden.
As you can see, there is only one block left to quilt. The more I quilt it, the more I love it. I do not have to think about the design now because everything is planned for the last block and the two borders. Yesterday, measurements were made and paper templates drawn for the inside border.
A closer view of the block.
Don't you think that these concentric circles suit the block perfectly?
Even closer for some details.
When I needed a break from quilting, this is what I was working on.
It's a long forgotten project... Why am I SOOOOOO long on projects I love ?
Stitched with silks, it is a beauty!!
Until later,

Nadine

ReplyDeleteYour quilt and your quilting is verry beautifull!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from the Netherlands.
Looking good. As I am very new to quilting, (having only made two cushion covers so far), is this quilt, already made by you and sewn up, on top of which you are now adding appliqué?
ReplyDeleteI have handpieced and hand appliqué each block, then I have sewn the blocks together to make the top. Finally I have made the "sandwich" wich consists of piling up a bottom fabric with batting on top and the quilt top. Now I am handquilting the three layers. It serves a double purpose. It maintains the batting in place and creates an interesting overall design adding texture to the quilt.
DeleteJaw droppingly gorgeous. What is the cross stitch design? Forgive me, if you have told us before, but what do you use/how do you mark your quilting design? Your work is just exquisite. Thank you for your blog!
ReplyDeleteThe crossstitch sampler is a design by Stacy Nash. For marking my quilting design I use blue water erasable pen or sometimes a hera marker for straight lines.
DeleteYour quilting is gorgeous!! Cross stitch sampler is growing nicely too :-) great to see you back :-)
